I'm in the market for a new road bike, and am having some trouble looking for the one that will suit me.

I'm looking for something that has the durability for very long-distance riding (speed is important), but I have some nasty tendonitis in my right elbow, so comfort will also be a priority. Shocks are obviously important, but perhaps some of those racing grips where my forearms rest on pads look very useful.

So, does anyone have an opinion where I might be able to find such a bike with a price-tag in the 3-digit range? I don't have a thousand dollars to spend on such a beast.

I'm not qualified to build it from the frame up, but am thinking I may have to do that.

Thanks for your help!!!!
