Zefal anti-theft skewers WARNING!!

Can be defeated with a small kitchen magnet when in the "locked" position. Put the skewers in the locked position, place a small magnet over the symbol of the locked-lock, and they will open just as if they were in the unlocked position. This would be a nice item if they could not be opened with a magnet, but they can. ZEFAL skewers just makes a thief's job easier! Maybe Zefal will fix this defect?

Great! First the Bic pen, now the common magnet. We are all screwed

Zefal Anti-theft Skewers are openable with a leverage device as simple as a pipe! Don't buy them. My bike seat and post were stolen today. I bought a set of these anti-theft skewers and the seat and post a week ago and today they were stolen. The thief forced the lever open with a pipe or some leverage device. Not sure if a magnet works as it's a stainless steel (not a magnetic metal) ball bearing in there, but a prepared thief with a lever in San Francisco certainly does. It's a waste of money, worthless, misleading and gives a false sense of security.

It is a misconception that stainless steel is not magnetic

Stainless is only stainless because chromium is added- not because iron is removed

Some stainless steel with a high nickel content are non-magnetic, but I'd assume that stainless steel skewers can be opened with a magnet unless you know otherwise
