I was wondering if I could get some advice on buying a bike from someone other than my local dealer. I've been mountain biking for years but because I live in Baton Rouge now and there's an obvious lack of mountains or trails I've decided to switch to the road. I obviously don't want to go out and spend a ton of money on a bike thats way more than I need but at the sime time I don't want to buy an entry level bike that I'll outgrow in a year or two. I've been looking at the Specialized Allez Double and was wondering if anybody could give me some feedback.

I strongly recommend the Specialized Allez series road bikes. Last month I purchased the Allez Triple and have logged over three hundred miles on it. For the money the bike is surprisingly lightweight and has a beautiful fit and finish. I find it to be fairly comfortable on long rides, quick handling and a decent hill-climber. The carbon-fiber fork and seat post do a great job of absorbing bumps and vibration and the frame is stiff and compact. The Allez Double comes with traditional basket pedals which you should upgrade immediately. Overall you are on the right track and looking at a great road bike. If you are looking for a slightly higher end model you should also check out the Specialized Allez Elite.

Best Wishes and Happy Cycling,

Baroni
