i've come to the conclusion that running a winter training bike just is'nt economical,the cash involved is better used to keep your good bike clean and serviced. Ok expensive parts don't like salt, but cheaper training bike bits don't last in the Uk winters, you just end up with two bikes to re-build in the spring and you have to ride a clanker for most of the winter!

Move to Texas. You only need one bike and the rest of your cash can go to clothing rather than a new bike, unless of course you want one.

I have an old Trek mtn bike that I converted into a wet weather bike. This works great for commuting and bad weather.
