My cycling experience includes sprint triathlons and otherwise leisure rides. I will be doing a 66 mile ride in a couple of weeks and was wondering about nutrition in the days preceding the race and during the race. My bigger concern is nutrition and hydration during the ride. What spports drinks would you recommend? and what types of quick, on-the-ride snacks would be good
I am not a triathlete, but I ride about 30 miles a day, 6 days a week so I am no expert. I wouldn't change your routine too much before a race. Whatever you are doing is working. If you change your diet in anticipation of competition you might find that your stomach hurts or you develop heartburn, or worse you bonk.
Hello guys....! That's a big issue for me working in the field 12 hr days. It's easier to pack a "better" lunch but hard to stick to every day. It's easier to go buy lunch.

Dear Smac, it is not senseble to drink or eat some thing during the cycling. Medical Research says that nothing should be eaten or drunk before such exercises. If you feel thirsty or hungry then try to eat some light food and soft drinks and don't ride at once after mealing.
